Today we want to highlight a few of our incredible women (shown in the photo carousel) at Solar Turbines:
Kamisha M., Sr. Project Applications Engineer, works with Solar’s sales teams to understand our customers’ needs and puts together competitive project proposals. Kamisha feels that her greatest accomplishment so far is being part of a team whose mission is to bring awareness to gender biases in the workplace. This effort sparked conversation and has started a positive movement within Solar!
Ethel R., Supplier Development Engineer, works in Solar’s Tijuana, Mexico facility, Turbotec. Ethel is a continuous improvement leader within her value stream. She works to improve Solar’s safety, quality and delivery every day. Ethel appreciates her parents for providing the necessary tools and education that made her the engineer she is today. Her dream is for women in Mexico and around the world to have the same opportunity she did.
Sarah B., Sr. Design Engineer, uses her skill set to design hydro-mechanical systems. Sarah has worked on several projects, but one that sticks out to her is a project for one of our customers in Papua New Guinea, where she made custom designs for its new gas fuel, liquid fuel and start systems. Sarah values celebrating the achievements of all amazing and intelligent women at Solar.
Kimberly F., Value Stream Manager, is responsible for Solar’s Subassemblies and Production Support team. This team builds subassemblies and tubes for all new production turbine packages. Kimberly’s favorite accomplishment was winning a Solar President’s Award in Process Quality, which resulted in an 80 percent reduction in cycle time, and a 40 percent increase in capacity in the tube shop. Kimberly is inspired by all women’s brave achievements in history that paved the way for all professionals in the industry.
Alma M. is a Field Service Representative that engineers process-lead electrical systems at Solar. She serves as a technical focal point for responding to systems engineering designs. Alma is happy to see more women in the industry joining her in the field!
Solar is proud of our large workforce of both women and men. The organization actively moves forward to create a gender-balanced world every day. Happy International Women’s Day 2019!
