WIND TURBINE LAB INFORMATION

A wind turbine uses the energy in wind to convert mechanical rotation into electricity. The design of the turbine blades, including material, shape, size, and orientation, influences the efficiency of the wind turbine.

BIKE LAB INFORMATION

Solar Turbines is an energy solutions company that converts the energy stored in fuel to create power.

Turbine blades in a gas turbine engine are made of specialty materials that can withstand speeds of 15,000 RPM and temperatures of more than 2,000° Fahrenheit, which is the temperature needed to melt gold!

Each bike in this lab can go up to about 200 RPM. The energy you are using to pedal is powering the lights, just like our turbine engines do for hospitals, college universities, and places around the world!
